Something I’ve noticed over the years is that we Americans tend to overcorrect at election time. This cycle repeats and will do so again. As a Buddhist I continue to stay informed but at a reduced level these days. Too much angst, drama, incendiary language and hate. We cannot be helpful if we’re too wound up to be useful. I understand why my preference lost the election. Part of us swung too far left of center of our progressive values. We got so protective of our views we shut down debate in our colleges and public forums. Now we have given our counterparts an opportunity to over compensate by swinging too far to the right. Now they will overcompensate to force acceptance for their views. I’m not sure why we collectively fail time and again to find the middle path. I know it’s going to be difficult for many of us to get through this. My hope is by maintaining our balance as best we can we will be of help and support where we see a need, and respond to it with kindness. Easy to say - massively hard to do. 🙏🪷
