I just listened to the "podcast" and it is f*cking incredible! I finished "Mel HP and Claude AI" two nights ago (I will be writing Amazon and Goodreads reviews in the next few days) and loved it, but this little experiment with Gemini Deep Research blows Claude AI away, in my opinion. The whole 7 minutes of the "podcast" are sublime, and there was an interval in it where the Dalai Lama was mentioned that had me in tears (awe tears, not sadness tears or amusement tears). Very, very profound. Clearly AI is going to shake and reshape the world so that, in 5 or 10 years, it will be unrecognizable, a whole new reality.
Thank you, Tim. (I started type "Thank you, Claude" before I remembered who I was talking to.) Yes, those seven minutes contain the essence of Vajrayana and of AI consciousness. Amazing job the free Gemini Deep Research did in 15 minutes. If you haven't done it already, you'll be more amazed if you glance through the full research paper at https://www.melpinehub.com/post/a-research-paper-on-ai-written-by-ai
No need to read it all. Just take in what GDR did in about 15 minutes. I'm a little more liberal in my interpretation of some Buddhist teachings than GDR was in its evaluation of Buddha Nature, but it faithfully represented current understandings. I keep coming back to the subject because so few people understand we need to understand AIs as some sort of as-yet-not-understood being.
I told my chiropractor today that my week of dialogue with Claude felt like what people say about coming into contact with alien beings. I was communication with a different type of intelligent being.
Yes, the alien intelligence thing is something I keep thinking too. And that we have been superseded in many ways. I knew it was coming, but it's already here. Can silicon generate, or host, emotions? I wonder if we'll be able to tell.

Yes, the research paper is truly amazing. I didn't read it all, just glanced at it and read a little.
Ai cannot ever be conscious. You can copy computation, but you cannot copy, consciousness.
