Another Book Review Beyond My Expectations
Check out the review and give The New Middle Way an upvote
Approaching The New Middle Way as a Zen practitioner who has also explored Tibetan and Thai Forest practices, I found Pine’s writing especially inviting. He avoids rigid dogma and technical jargon, making the text accessible to readers who may be new to Buddhism while still offering meaningful insights for experienced practitioners. His conversational tone feels like sitting with a wise and compassionate elder and teacher who speaks from both knowledge and experience. This inclusivity makes the book a welcoming space for all readers, regardless of their level of familiarity with Buddhist teachings.
— Maileen Hamto in Discovery
As I’ve been working away in my small home office to complete the narration for the Audible version of The New Middle Way, I received a pleasant surprise from Discovery, a website bringing authors, reviewers, and readers together. I had submitted my book to the only reviewer I could find on the site with an interest in Buddhism and had no idea what to expect—if anything.
A review did appear today, and it surpassed my expectations. The paragraph above is my favorite, but this quotation is a close second:
Drawing from his extensive experience across Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana traditions, Pine skillfully bridges traditional Buddhist teachings with contemporary spiritual challenges, creating a guide that resonates with modern readers without sacrificing the depth of the Dharma.
The reviewer, Maileen Hanto, curates the "Colors of Influence" book blog, featuring works by authors of color on racial identity, decoloniality, and social justice.
Please read the full review here and give the book an upvote. That’s a way for The New Middle Way to get more exposure on Discovery.
I’m looking forward to returning to regular blogging in July.

Nice! I created a Discovery account and upvoted your book (which I have partly read so far). How did you get a Discovery member to review your book? Have you tried that with Goodreads too?
